There is a dedicated group of parishioners who have been involved in raising funds for the extension of the church.
This has been in the pipeline for several years and began with a failed building application to use funds from the disposal of the present parish hall for the building. This was replaced by a new application accepted by Richmond Borough Council which involved finding new resources.
The first stage the construction of a new porch and children’s chapel was completed in July 2011. The construction of the second stage, a pastoral centre for parish and community use, is now nearing completion. Archbishop Vincent Nicholsl officially opened the new centre on Sunday 16th June at 10.30am. HRH Dom Miguel of Portugal, Infante of Portugal, was the guest of honour. The architects are Grainne O’Keefe Architects Ltd of Teddington, and the builders were Ryan & Collins of Belmont. It is estimated that that the new stage cost over £300,000 most of which was raised by parishioners. We still need to raise approximately £120,000 to repay a loan from the diocee of Westminster.
