The Bible Course was created by the Bible Society – a charity founded 200 years ago with the sole purpose of offering the Bible to the world. At the Church of St James we are offering their course, known simply as ‘The Bible Course’ as a way for people from within the parish, and outside of it, to experience and understand the Bible and its place in our lives.
The course is made up of eight sessions and includes a short video input, small group discussions, and a short time of prayer. You will be guided through the whole course by your hosts, Joe and Linda, who will also be providing individual support and guidance as you reflect on the readings of each week.
To learn more about the content of the course, or to see how the course may help you, watch the video below, and read the testimonies of those who have completed the course already. To sign up, please visit the form at the bottom of the page.
Our next course begins on Tuesday 16th March 2020, at 7:30pm, via Zoom.
If you have any questions, please direct them to your hosts at email@example.com.
The course runs on alternate Tuesday evenings from 7:30pm, starting on Tuesday 2nd March.
Each fortnight you will have readings and material to look over, but this should not interrupt your daily commitments – you can invest as much or as little as you like.
The course is designed to be accessible for anyone, whether Christian or not. Anyone can participate – no prior knowledge needed. Have a friend who you think would enjoy the course, but worry they’d feel left out? Invite them anyway! With this course being online, our location no longer matters – you can participate from anywhere you like.
Already an expert in biblical studies? Come along anyway, and see what you can learn about the Bible’s place in your own life.
To ensure the safety of everyone participating, all our courses are currently held over Zoom. If you need help getting onto Zoom, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org, and we’ll be more than happy to guide you through the process.
There is no direct cost associated with the course – you can join and attend every session for free.
However, if you wish to buy it, there is an accompanying workbook which guides you through the materials and resources for each week. This can be purchased for £5 from the course leaders.
It’s been really good – it’s been really encouraging to see how the whole Church has taken part in it and engaged in it, and the whole Church seems to have gone on a journey together.

I think that we should be able to share our faith and I think we should be able to speak to our friends and our family and I think that possibly this Bible Society course will help me to do that.
